22,2 Million Records

The DISBYT database contains records of Swedes who lived before 1910.
It contains information submitted by our members.

As a Member  - More Information
To search DISBYT is free, but as a member you will get more information as you get access to user name and password to search the database. If you as a member submit data to the database, you will get better access to climb the family trees.

Submit data to the Disbyt database

As a member you may also submit a GEDCOM extract from your family history program. Send a GEDCOM file to Charlotte Börjesson at disbyt@dis.se .
Your information will be added to the database. You will also receive the result of a search of the database for all your submitted records.

Search Results on the Internet
When having searched DISBYT, as a member of DIS, a search result will look like this:

Period field refers to the first and the last recorded event e.g. birth, marriage or death.
Info on Family gives you the possibility of “climbing” the family tree. Available if you have submitted a GEDCOM extract to DISBYT yourself.
No gives you information about the submitter.

DISPOS - A new resource to find your sources

We are happy to announce a new service for our members. DISPOS is a way for you to find the position of your sources and other records. The idea is that DISPOS should be an easy way to find both primary and secondary sources of Swedish research with a focus on services available on the Internet or on other data media. More info on DISPOS

SPÅR - New database in the DISBYT database

In co-operation with the society Släktdata (Family data), we have added 500,000 birth records from Släktdata's database. In the DISBYT database, you will find the info on the child born. Then you have to press the link to Släktdata to find full info about the birth record. We hope that we will be able to add other databases in the same way in the future.
