We are happy to announce that SwedGen Tour is on the road again in September 2011. Five Swedish genealogists who will be touring the United States for the sole purpose of helping Swedish-Americans learn more about their heritage. On previous trips, the group was successful in helping many individuals get started with their research as well as breaking down many brick walls. This year the group will make the following stops:

At every place our group will lead a Swedish genealogy research day that will include presentations and demonstrations on how to use the various resources for Swedish genealogical and historical research. There will be presentations on Swedish genealogical online resources, Swedish genealogical CDs and Swedish emigration.This year Lantmäteriet, The Swedish mapping, cadastral and land registration authority, will participate in SwedGenTour.

Lectures

Each day we offer lectures about

• Swedish church records online, SVAR, Arkiv Digital and Genline
• Other Swedish online records and CD:s,  like EmiWeb, Rötter, Släktdata, Swedish death CD 1901-2009, Swedish census 1880, 1890, 1900, 1970, 1980 and 1990, Emigranten Populär 2001 (with the Swedish passengerlists), Buried in Sweden  and some local CD:s from different parts of Sweden.
• DISBYT, the Swedish family tree database
• Lantmäteriet - the Swedish mapping, cadastral and land registration authority - are responsible for geographic information and property division. Lantmäteriet´s mission is to manage the Swedish cadastral system and promote the rational subdivision of land, and to be responsible for the efficient provision of basic geographic and land information. Lantmäteriet have been engaged in the mapping of Sweden since 1628 and still produce standard maps such as the Road Map, the Topographic Map, the Mountain Map, the Property Map and a Map of Sweden.  The Historical Maps website is a presentation of large parts of Lantmäteriet’s unique and invaluable collection of historical maps. The collection comprises more than a million maps from all parts of Sweden!

One on one sessions

We also offer individual research help. Sign up for half an hour with one of us and we will help you with your Swedish genealogical problems, give some ideas on where to look for more information and how to get in touch with living relatives in Sweden.
