The DIS Society
About the Dis Society
The Dis Society is the Swedish Computer Genealogy Society. DIS is short fo Datorhjälp i släktforskningen, which means Computer support in genealogy. The Dis Society was founded in 1980, and is the world oldest computer genealogy society. Our concept is to provide genealogy and computer support to our members in cooperation with archives and other genealogical organizations.
We produce a genealogical software Disgen (in Swedish) and have genealogical databases as Disbyt and Dispos which support you in your family history research.
We have eight regional societies in Sweden and we publish a quarterly magazine called Diskulogen in Swedish. The head quarter is located in Gamla Linköping - the Old town of Linköping, where we also have a research center. In English, we publish the e-zine Rooted in Sweden.
The Dis Society is a member of Sveriges Släktforskarförbund - the Federation of Genealogical Societies of Sweden.
